ESSEN Eatery has been missing in action for quite awhile .
I’m truly sorry for my lack of commitment, it is a check-myself-before-I-wreck-myself type of situation. But I am back! And with a bang, okay rather a pop. Hey, it is still some form of a sound.
We had a hell of a time with our Pop-Up restaurant, this passing weekend. It kicked off with roasted corn soup and a sweet corn fitter. Afterwards the Meat Magician Hennie, braaied a deboned leg of lamb. Rubbed with olive oil, fresh rosemary, salt, pepper and tons of garlic. Classic, simple and delicious. The lamb topped with fresh salsa Verde, side of skin-on sweet potato mash and seasonal vegetables. BAM! A beautiful union between food, once again.
Garagiste (a pretentious word for someone who makes wine out of his garage), Nanna Vegter sponsered a beautiful, yet bloody dangerous bottle of Grappa. The clear, strong liquor layed on top of a Mexican hot choclate shot. Some gluten-free polenta brownies balanced on the cups.
Dear Tom from Sunnyside Bowling club ensured for one flippen cool venue. This weekend, go for one drink, you’ll fall in love with the place.Our next ESSEN Pop Up will be early July, we’ll post the date on the blog and Facebook page
